We are very pleased to announce that the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society has received an Operational Support Grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA), for support of its operations during the State’s 2020-2021 fiscal year, in the amount of $24,000. This funding is most welcome and quite remarkable during these difficult times.

Funding is to be used primarily to support the salaries of all museum staff, but is also used for operational expenses, including marketing and utilities.

We express our gratitude not only to the State and to MCACA, but also to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEH), as $2,764 of the above amount are federal funds.

We ask our visitors and supporters, when they have the opportunity, to express their gratitude to their state and federal legislators for this funding.

Michigan’s vibrant arts and cultural scene are important to the State’s communities, excellent quality of life, and thriving economy. MCACA is the State’s key conduit for arts and cultural information, grant funding, and more.

From Michigan’s historic monuments and museums to traditional practices and contemporary arts, the Council is dedicated to ensuring that every citizen and community in Michigan enjoys the civic, economic, and educational benefits of arts and culture.
