Join the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society on Friday, August 7, as we observe National Lighthouse Day, and America’s Semiquincentennial!  The day’s events will include programs related to the 177-year history of the Whitefish Point Light-Station, the 150 year history of the Vermilion U.S. Life-Saving station, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a U.S. Coast Guard Aids-to-Navigation Team boat onsite … all with a background of patriotic music by the award winning Dodworth Saxhorn Band. Events will get underway at 1:00pm within the shadow of the Civil War-era Whitefish Point Lighthouse. This is a public event at Whitefish Point, and no tickets are required. Event will commence, rain or shine!
